ALL in for Wil

Happy Birthday,  Wil Ohler  ! I am so lucky to be your mom. You fill our lives with laughter and show us what real strength is. Yesterday they celebrated with him at the cancer center when he came in for chemo. To say that you should never take life for granted has taken on a whole new meaning. I ask for prayers for the little ones who won't be celebrating another birthday. Send their families your light and energy for strength and peace. For Wil we ask that you do something today for someone else who will never be able to pay you back, spread kindness, love, and of course laughter. # wilswarriors   # wilwins

This is what 15 straight days of chemo looks like. We are all going a bit crazy. 37 days at the hospital/clinic out of past 41 days. Ok exhausted and crazy, but warrior on!  THREE DAYS UNTIL HIS BIRTHDAY!!

Well I finally made it through this whole video today, sobbed the whole time but I made it through after trying a dozen times. Thank you so much to everyone who has "found us" while we are holding on... so incredibly lucky. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jv8IqJm6q7w  

On Saturday Wil was invited to attend the NCAA Division II soccer championship games as a Make a Wish representative. He was able to walk out on the field with his host team, Lynn University from Florida, as the honorary captain. He was introduced (I will try to get the video) and sat on the bench with the team. The game went into double overtime and Lynn U lost in PKs. It was heartbreaking as over the course of the game and between periods he was able to juggle with the team, especially the bench players, talk soccer, cheer, yell, and really felt like part of a team again. After the game, one of the backup goalies gave Wil his trophy. He said, "You are fighting harder than we are, you deserve this more. Keep fighting man" It was so very touching as the whole team was struggling with the loss, but he wanted to recognize Wil's battle. I can not say enough that team sports teach you soooo much more than how to play. So much love for Lynn University, The NCAA, Division 2...

Monday AM Update: Ummm that is not Wil, his surgery is at 10....that is his dad,Chris, after 2 ER visits found out he has a gallstone blocking a duct, spent the night in the hospital in extreme pain. Procedure early this morning to unclog duct and then gallbladder surgery when his liver enzymes are better (hopefully tomorrow). Prayers and positive vibes needed because I'm at a loss for words, at least the two surgery waiting rooms are close. Monday PM update: Here is the Ohler boys update. Wil's surgery went ok, but having terrible migraines and nausea, says he wants to cut his head off  # chemosucks . Chris took longer than expected but after 2 hours they were able to clear the duct and put in a shunt. Chris says he currently has no pain just exhausted. He still looks a bit yellow (not like a dandelion anymore) but if his liver enzymes look good tomorrow morning he will have surgery to remove the gallbladder. Wil has chemo at 9:30am so I'm sure I'll be running bet...

This boy had a good Turkey 🦃  day this afternoon!  #familygamestrong Accurate portrayal of Wil at Thanksgiving! Nurse came to the house, chemo is in, feeling bad, still making us all laugh!

  Picture in the rear view mirror, pretty much sums up the past 24 hours. Poor buddy not doing well on the side of the highway on our way home from chemo. BUT we are determined to be thankful this week! Thankful for the beautiful weather today and so many people STILL in our corner!
