Week of Nov 27 TWO for one surgeries (hence why I am behind in posting!)

Monday AM Update:
Ummm that is not Wil, his surgery is at 10....that is his dad,Chris, after 2 ER visits found out he has a gallstone blocking a duct, spent the night in the hospital in extreme pain. Procedure early this morning to unclog duct and then gallbladder surgery when his liver enzymes are better (hopefully tomorrow). Prayers and positive vibes needed because I'm at a loss for words, at least the two surgery waiting rooms are close.

Monday PM update:
Here is the Ohler boys update. Wil's surgery went ok, but having terrible migraines and nausea, says he wants to cut his head off #chemosucks. Chris took longer than expected but after 2 hours they were able to clear the duct and put in a shunt. Chris says he currently has no pain just exhausted. He still looks a bit yellow (not like a dandelion anymore) but if his liver enzymes look good tomorrow morning he will have surgery to remove the gallbladder. Wil has chemo at 9:30am so I'm sure I'll be running between rooms again. Thanks for all the visitors and calls and texts and messages, we really felt the love today!!

And just for some extra drama...I broke my toe last weekend so "running" between the two surgery rooms has been more like limping.

And then when I left Chris to go home and give Wil his chemo, he was projectile vomiting, and when I asked him to flush (chemo puke smells), the toilet blew up! YOU CAN NOT MAKE THIS STUFF UP!!

Tuesday Morning update: Wil had chemo with his grandparents. Chris has been bumped a few times, still in pre-op

Tuesday evening update Day 3: Surgery #2 for Chris is over. He is finally back in his room and stable. They will continue to monitor him closely, he can only have ice chips (sorry no beer and wings). He appreciates the kind words and 🙏🏼

Wil is home with Bushia he will be back in the morning for chemo. Good thing they are both being treated at Mercy.

NOV 30th update
Everyone is home. Chris is managing to get around at a very slow pace. Wil's chemo went smoothly today. I hope to see the back of my eyelids more tonight. Thanks for checking in on us friends!

Sorry that I have not updated here as I can not do it from my phone. Wil was in the hospital 2 weeks in April and then on his Make a Wish trip the first week of May. Please follow Wil's story on facebook "Wil Ohler's fight with leukemia #wilswarriors" https://www.facebook.com/Wil-Ohlers-fight-with-leukemia-wilswarriors-174102950041537/
5/25/2017 So, Wil is resting at home. It was a bit of struggle balancing him as he walked from the car all the way to the upstairs bedroom, but we made it! None of us were ready for him to leave the "safety" of the hospital. There you have a whole team of nurses with all that equipment to monitor him, so it was nerve wrecking thinking of bringing him home with nothing to help keep an eye on his vitals. After nearly a week of watching machines and carefully watching his pulse, checking his oxygen, and monitoring his heart rate it was hard to fathom going cold turkey. We joked that it was like bringing home your first baby. You can't believe they're just letting you walk out with this fragile young human. Scary. As of today, he's still in a lot of pain, his port continues to bleed, he's had a bloody nose, his bones ache, his back is sore, and is bored already :) However, sleeping in a nice big soft bed has helped...those hospital beds are definitely not built...

Breathing is NOT optional-Saturday

Saturday update: Wil had an allergic reaction last night and stopped breathing. The medical team and  Kristen Josephine  were amazing they bagge d him and gave him shots to open his airway. It was terrifying. He is shaken but doing ok. Very grateful for the amazing staff at the PICU.
