Jan 5 Clinic visit

Clinic visit today. Numbers are down again, but it has only been 2 weeks, doc will work on finding the right level. I will try to not panic while his platelets are low, reminder to please donate 🙂. Thanks Kate for taking him.
We started stringing his beads of courage for the past cycles of treatment, it’s been interesting to revisit this bumpy and often times heart wrenching journey and its representation in beads. I’ll give the whole run down when I’m further along but red=blood/platelets, yellow=hospital overnight stay, white=chemo, etc. I really like the visual representation for kids, we didn’t start until Oct but as a teacher I’m very pleased with this program. I am doing a spiral instead of strands and I’ll have to explain my love of spirals later too as the boy need food!

Beads of Courage check them out if you would like to sponsor a bead. $15 you wear two beads during a special accomplishment and then write a note about what you did to a kid who is fighting. You keep one bead and a kid who is fighting a life threatening illness gets the other and your note. I’m loving this.

Make A Wish soccer game

It has been awhile since I updated here. It is much easier to do from Facebook if you can follow his story there. CLICK HERE Wil has been struggling with the effects of chemotheraphy. The chemo has not been kind to his stomach, gallbladder, liver, or head. The good day was his MAKE A WISH faculty soccer game. March 15, 2018 Our family is humbled by the support of Wil and the Make A Wish foundation. Thank you from the bottom of our overflowing hearts, we love being a FLYER! -Thank you to Lori Condellire, Susan Dooling, & Beth Johnston for sharing pictures! A few members of the  StepUp  of St. Louis Teen Coalition presented a check from their budget for $100 to be used for Wil's Wish fundraising at the soccer game to day! So cool to see these kids in action. Way to go  Truman Middle School  for organizing such a fun afternoon.  # wilswarriors   # stepupstl

Coaches vs Cancer

Hard to say how proud I am of this kid. Wil received the 2017 Stephanie Phillips Survivorship Award for outstanding courage and leadership in the fight against cancer. Huge Thanks to Coaches vs Cancer STL. We support their mission of raising awareness and funding. Coach Jason Wolfard at Lindbergh nominated Wil for this award and we are grateful to him and his entire coaching staff.  Staff at Coaches vs Cancer STL doing great work.  Yup, still proud (and let's be real, glad he didn't puke) F-L-Y...E-R-S Here is Wil's speech... Coaches vs Cancer Speech 2017 - Wil Ohler Thank you for this award.Thank you to Coach Wolfard for nominating me. Thank you to the family of Coach Stephanie Phillips, I’m sure her family misses her even more so during basketball season. Cancer is not a team anyone ever wants to join. The week before I received my leukemia diagnosis I was playing a soccer tournament in Chicago. Yes, I had been feeling bad for a very lo...
